Centre-Swing lantern clock

Lantern clock with centre-swing movement, originally with hoop and spikes (now lacking, except for remnant of hoop).

The strapped bell over four urn finials and three cast pierced frets engraved with crossed dolphins and floral motif, supported on tapering Doric columns to ball feet.

Silvered Roman chapter ring with inner quarter hour track and half-hour markers enclosing the centre with silvered Arabic alarm setting dial. The dial plate with fine floral engraving, single pierced iron hand.

The two train weight-driven, countwheel striking movement now with recoil escapement and long pendulum. Later pinions, dial plate and doors.

The clock having 5 1/2" square frame, 6 1/4" diameter chapter ring of 1 1/4" width and engraved 6 1/4" high dial plate. Standing 15" high to top of bell finial.
