A breakarch lantern clock currently running on short bob pendulum with crown wheel. Silvered boss in centre of breakarch carrying maker's signature 'John Wallis London'. Silvered chapter ring with lozenge half hour markers. Finely matted dial centre. Silvered alarm disc is purely decorative. Interesting engraved initials to the rear of the name boss and chapter ring also appear on the dial plate behind the chapter ring. The clock will be supplied on a hanging bracket as hoop and spikes have been removed at some time in the past.

The clock appears to have been subject to an aborted fusee conversion, the weight driven movement having been subsequently reinstated / restored.

The dial is 8" wide by 11" high. The movement is based on a 5 1/2" square frame and is 6 1/8" between the top and bottom plates. Overall height of the movement from feet to finials is 14.5".

John Wallis was a recorded maker in the parish of St James, Westminster, London, circa 1778.

Price: £2,750 including bracket
