Longcase Clock by Henry Payton

A George II oak longcase with 10" square brass dial and 30-hour plated movement.
Fine matting to dial centre, silvered Roman numeral chapter ring with fleur de lys half hour markers and inner quarter hour track. Silvered cartouche bearing the maker's name "Henry Payton Bromsgrove" with calendar aperture below and fine steel hand.
The oak case standing 77.5" high. The hood having opening front door with period glass. Fixed decorative half pillars to the hood front and quarter pillars to the rear.
Henry Payton of Bromsgrove is a sought-after and recorded clockmaker of 1745 to 1765.
