A George II oak longcase with 11" square brass dial and 30 hour birdcage movement. Fine matting to dial centre and fine steel hands.

The oak case stands 82.5" high with caddy top. The hood having attached turned columns with wooden capitals to the front and quarter columns to the rear.

The clock, apart from minor repairs to the base of the case, is totally original and has spent the last 30 years of its life in Australia.

Please note, the dial is left in original condition as this is preferred by some purchasers. The dial can however be cleaned and silvered prior to sale if preferred.

William Avenell of Alresford is a sought-after and recorded clockmaker of 1760[1].
